Test Ready turns a study guide you upload into a practice test. This page describes what the application does with uploads, email, and payments.

Uploads

You can upload JPEG, PNG, and PDF files. The limit is 10 MB per file and 10 files per study guide.

Files are stored on Test Ready's server. Depending on configuration, that is a folder on the server disk or an S3-compatible bucket. The database stores the file name, type, size, and storage location, plus the practice test generated from the file.

Test Ready reads the upload to build the test. It sends the file to the OpenAI API, or to a compatible API if one is configured. Images and PDFs are sent as base64. Those requests set store: false, which asks the provider not to retain the upload. The file still has to be sent so a test can be generated.

A retention setting defaults to 7 days. Local storage has a cleanup routine for older upload folders, but the server does not run that routine on a schedule. Cleanup for S3 storage is not implemented. Generated tests stay in the database. There is no control in the app to delete a study guide or an account.

The server logs operational events such as upload counts, errors, and payment results. Those logs do not include the contents of your files.

Email

You can use Test Ready without an email address.

If you choose to save an account, Test Ready emails you a sign-in link through Resend, from Test Ready App <login@notifications.test-ready.app>. The link expires after 15 minutes and works once. The account stores your email address. The sign-in token is stored only as a hash.

Payments

Paid credits are sold through a Stripe Payment Link. Card numbers are handled by Stripe. Test Ready does not store them.

When a payment completes, Test Ready stores the Stripe customer id, the email Stripe has for that payment, and the payment id on the credit ledger. The Stripe email does not replace the email on your Test Ready account.

The paid pack is 3 credits for $3. One credit makes one practice test.

Sessions and credits

The site uses a session cookie so it can keep your study guides and credits on this browser. The cookie is HttpOnly. In production it is also Secure. It lasts 180 days and refreshes when you use the site.

A new session includes 5 free credits. That grant happens once for the session. Creating an account is optional and does not require a card.

Credit balances are ledger entries. The ledger does not store an expiration date. An anonymous balance is tied to the session cookie.

What we do not do

The app does not show ads. It does not include a data-sale integration.

Test Ready does not ask for a child's name or email. Files you upload may still contain a child's schoolwork, because that is the material you choose to send.
